With a professional foundation in the culinary field, Shanel discovered a second passion in veterinary medicine and transitioned into a rewarding new career. After graduating from the Veterinary Technician program at Sheridan College and becoming a Registered Veterinary Technician in 2023, she spent two years working in general practice, building strong clinical skills and hands-on experience. During that time, she developed a particular interest in surgery and anesthesia, which led her to pursue opportunities here at West Toronto with the surgical team.

Outside of work, she shares her home with two dogs: Mylo, her spirited taco terrier, and Coco, her charming mini Dachshund.
